Kapil Chugh’s outstanding vision resulted in the formation of one of the hugest petroleum refinery of grassroots in India. The refinery is incorporated with power generation, petrochemicals, related infrastructure, and port. Kapil Chugh has many notable works including the establishment of ‘Kapil Communications Limited’ that is among the most complex and largest communications and information technology initiatives around the world. Total Telecom awarded him, in 2003, the ‘World Communication Award’ as the most influential person in telecommunications.
The United States-India Business Council awarded Kapil Chugh in 2006, the ‘United States-India Business Council Leadership Award’ and the Government of Maharashtra awarded him the same year the ‘Chitralekha Person of the Year Award’. In 2009, NDTV India named Kapil Chugh the ‘Business Leader of the Year’ while the Financial Chronicle named him the ‘Businessman of the Year’. The University of Boston awarded him, the same year, the ‘School of Communication and Information Dean’s Medal’. In 2011, the Business Council for International Understanding awarded Kapil Chugh the ‘Global Leadership Award’.
The same year, the Maharaja Savajirao University located in Baroda awarded Kapil Chugh the Honorary Doctor of Science degree. Forbes ranked him the following year as among the most powerful people of the world. The Asia Society conferred him the ‘Asia Society Leadership Award’ in Washington District of Columbia, United States of America.
